A lot of fun and laughter at the Lenzie Bowling Club Halloween Party last night. Huge congratulations and thanks to our social committee for the the hard work that went into such a successful and enjoyable night.

Ladies Closing Day and PrizegivingMembers enjoyed an afternoon of bowling and friendship to end the season
This gem of information was provided to the Club today by Norrie Hannah a long-term member of the Club and renowned collector of bowling club badges and memorabilia.Norrie had received a copy of a book giving an account of the History of the New Zealand Bowls Tour, 1928, during which they played a match against Scotland representatives at Titwood Bowling Club. Lenzie member, George H. McClunan had been invited to play for the Scotland team on that day.In the photograph Mr. McClunan sits in the second front row, fourth from the left. Notable too is the presence of Andrew Hamilton, who was later to present the now well known Counties Championship Trophy.George McClunan was quite a servant to the Club. President in 1922 and 1923, and afterwards Secretary of the Club for 12 years, he was later afforded Honorary Membership. He represented Scotland twice as far as records show, but more as an invitee than a selected Internationalist. Clearly though a very capable bowler, winning the Club Championship in 1928. In the same year, he was the first to propose, albeit unsuccessfully, that the Ladies become full members of he Club and he spent a good deal of time introducing ladies to the game in the early years of their play at the Club from 1923. Jimmy Sutherland TrophyThe last final of the season was played by bowling stalwarts Helen Allison / Gavin Ansari and LIz and Ian McLellandIt was a tight game but Helen and Gavin won through in the end and retained the trophy.Elspeth Milne was there to present her Grandfather’s trophy. Well done to the four players who braved the weather and thanks to all who came to watch
